Defibrillators
A defibrillator is a device that gives an electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. You don’t need to be trained to use it as the device gives clear instructions and can’t be used if it’s not necessary.
Blyth Town Council maintain six defibrillators within the town, located in the following areas:
- Marketplace - on the south facing wall of the toilet block facing Waterloo Road
- Blyth Beach - Dave Stephens’ Centre
- Ridley Park - new toilet block
- Police Station - Arms Evertyne House, Quay Road
- Delaval Street Newsham - Next to the fruit shop
- Broadway Playing Field - on the south westerly side of the Pavilion
In addition to these defibrillators, a number of community groups have added their own around Blyth.

The first of the defibrillators installed by Blyth Town Council was in the Marketplace, in May 2019 and as of 20 June 2019 the units in Ridley Park, The Dave Stephen’s Centre, and at Arms Evertyne House are now online.
For every minute it takes for the defibrillator to reach someone and deliver a shock, their chances of survival reduce by up to 10% hence the need to ensure Blyth has easy access to these life saving machines.
Please see the video below for a guide on the use of the Defibrilator.
